Okay, I just saw the Chevy Sonic ad from the Super Bowl for the first time. The use of the car to do stunts--bungee jump, coming off of a ramp, skydiving, etc--while playing "We Are Young" by FUN, hit its target market perfectly. Since the Sonic is the direct replacement of the ultra-boring Aveo, Chevy had to show that the new car was a clean-sheet design and that young, hip, first-time car buyers should consider a Chevy instead of a Scion Tc, Mazda 2, or Ford Festiva. To feature the car, instead of people, doing an array of extreme sports was a great twist, a nod to hipster irony, and flat-out a great stunt and special effects show. I am surprised this one was overlooked.

The presentation for Carmelo Anthony's shoe. It's a great combination of light projection synched with water choreography. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=naJVL5GfSCQ

dreams of Macau video is pretty impressive, too.

I personally think the MetLife commercial was the best of the bunch. Even if you had no idea what each of the cartoons was, you could see all sorts of variety in the styles and the characters themselves. Blended with the message of "insurance for everyone", the commercial shows that insurance can be affordable and easy for all sorts of families, even single people and couples.
As for the characters themselves, anyone with an idea of who some of the characters are can relate themselves to this commercial, giving an excellent feeling of nostalgia. It also introduces many older cartoons to newer generations, prompting interested viewers to "find out who/what that was". (A few I can name are He-Man, Voltron, Scooby-Doo, and the Peanuts)

I liked the M&M's commercial. The brand is a fun candy and they displayed the candy having fun. They took a popular song and used it in a funny way.

Once again I thought Chrysler shines through in the super bowl. Putting itself out there to connect and rejoice with audience through a common association.

M&M also scored big with their ad. Reminding us that its just candy and you should have fun with it.

I think Doritos continues to score points with its fan made ads. However the dog ad scored way more points than the sling shot kid ad.

For future reading check out this take on the Chrysler ad and its stirred up controversy. http://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/clint-eastwood-rick-santorum-and-the-limits-of-pessimism/2012/02/08/gIQAL1nRzQ_story.html

As well as some additional insight into the Doritos win. http://www.usatoday.com/money/advertising/story/2012-02-08/million-dollar-winners-super-bowl-ad-meter/53015900/1
